The new version of the Foreign Permanent Residence Identity Card of the People's Republic of China was officially issued and put into use from December 1.
The new card adds five-starred elements,embodying the national logo,so it is called "Five-Star Card".
The first batch of 50 foreigners received the card on December 1 after qualifying for permanent residence in China. They are from over 20 countries, including the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Sweden, Singapore and the ROK, and have made outstanding contributions to China's economic and social development in economy, education, science and technology, culture, health and other fields.
The relevant person in charge of the National Immigration Administration (NIA) introduced that the "Five-Star Card" is a legal identity document issued by NIA for foreigners whose permanent residence applications have been approved. Holders can use the new card independently when proving their identity. There is no need for them to present their passports again.
The "Five-Star Card" upgrades the information storage, optimizes the layout, adopts more advanced anti-counterfeiting technology, and enhances personal information protection and data security.The NIA, together with relevant departments, vigorously promotes the upgrading and renovation of application systems and facilities in various related industries, making it easier for holders to use the new card in public services, government services and Internet platforms such as transportation, daily consumption and financial communication.
