Good news!The South Canal in Shenyang is undergoing a transformation.

Recently,the hum of construction machinery has enlivened the banks of the South Canal in Shenyang.Sanjing Bridge,a key landmark on Sanjing Street,is enclosed by construction hoardings,with excavators working nonstop.This marks the prelude to the grand waterway navigation project.

On September 30,the high-quality conservation,enhancement and utilization project(phase I)of Shenyang,a national historic and cultural city,officially kicked off.This super project,built upon an 80-square-kilometer historic urban district,carries a total investment of 15.16 billion yuan in its first phase.The overall project focuses on "one core"—the Fangcheng area,"one zone"—the Xiaonan area,and "one belt"—the South Canal area.

As one of the first key projects breaking ground along the South Canal,the Sanjing Bridge renovation is designed to enable the South Canal to truly become navigable and solve the problem of insufficient space beneath the bridge.

The comprehensive upgrade project for Luxun Children's Park(Heping Section)has also started in tandem.The project covers a total area of 25 hectares and involves an overall investment of approximately 180 million yuan.

Here is the timeline for the launch of the navigation for tourism and the opening of the brand-new park.

✔By the end of this year,the Sanjing Bridge renovation will be completed and open to traffic.Citizens will first benefit from the connection between the bridge and pedestrian trails.

✔In December this year,the construction work on Luxun Children's Park will wrap up.

✔In May 2027,trial navigation for tourist boats and trial operation of Luxun Children's Park will officially begin.
