On July 8,China Southern Airlines launched the "15-Minute Boarding" service on its flight route between Shenyang and Shanghai Pudong. This is also the first flight route at Shenyang Airport to offer this service.
The "15-Minute Boarding" service ends the traditional check-in cut-off time for passengers without checked baggage. Eligible passengers can arrive at the boarding gate as late as 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time to board. This service breaks the long-standing industry norm of closing check-in counters 30 to 40 minutes ahead of takeoff across domestic civil aviation, and removes restrictions on ticket rescheduling imposed by traditional check-in cutoffs.
This service precisely caters to frequent business travelers and passengers with last-minute flight changes. Wei Ming, a passenger, spoke highly of the new service and said: "Compared with value-added services like in-flight meals and airport lounges, saving time spent waiting at the airport matters far more to me."
Airport and airline officials remind passengers that those travelling with checked luggage must complete baggage drop-off before the respective deadlines set by the airport and carrier. Passengers requiring special services are advised to allocate ample extra time for their journey.
