The latest data just released by online travel platform Qunar shows that the top 10 most popular nationwide destinations for inbound tourism in July 2026 are listed as follows: Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Qingdao, Xiamen, Haikou and Shenyang.Shenyang, one of industrial cities in Northeast China, has stood out amid numerous coastal and first-tier cities.

This "China Cool" travel boom is powerful and diverse.

Tourists from Europe are traveling thousands of miles to China. The number of Swedish tourists booking domestic flights within China surged 3.3 times year-on-year, while inbound arrivals from Southern European countries including Greece tripled. Instead of only visiting Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, they now set their sights on emerging hot cities such as Shenyang, Chengdu and Hangzhou.

The number of tourists from countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative have also shown striking growth. The number of tourists from Turkmenistan jumped sevenfold year-on-year, and inbound tourist arrivals from Mongolia saw a doubling growth. From airports to hotels, from the Shenyang Imperial Palace to Zhongjie Commercial Street, crowds of people of all skin colors chatting in various languages fill the streets of Shenyang this summer.
