New exhibition in the Shenyang Palace Museum

On June 30th,"Circumstances,Hearts,and Paintings:Ming-Qing Literati Paintings and Calligraphy from the Collection of the Shenyang Palace Museum" was held in the Shishan House and the Xiezhong House.

Literati painting,also known as scholar drawing,generally refers to the paintings created by literati and scholar-officials in ancient Chinese society.

Literati painting integrates literature,calligraphy and painting,and is a comprehensive reflection of the artist's cultural literacy.


The exhibition presents the characters of ancient Chinese literati and scholar-officials in cultivating morality and indifference to fame and fortune through the three units of "Traveling the Mountains and Rivers","Literati Gathering in Mountain Residence"and"Secular life or Monastic Life Weighed by Oneself".

Some calligraphy works were added to the exhibition as auxiliary exhibits.

The calligraphy techniques are enriched.The written poems are well matched with the paintings and unit themes.

This exhibition selects the fine Ming-Qing literati paintings and calligraphy from the Shenyang Palace Museum,and brings together masterpieces from famous masters such as"the Four WU families","Songjiang painting school","Four Wangs","Four Monks"and"Yangzhou Painting School".

The exhibition will last until September 20.
