Hub of equipment manufacturing marks fifth anniversary with conference and opens IP institute

The China-Germany Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park in Shenyang, Liaoning province, is further opening up to achieve high-quality development with innovation, park officials said.

The statement was emphasized at a conference held by the park from Dec 17-18 to commemorate its fifth anniversary and to set out goals for the next five years.

Eight key activities were held during the conference, focusing on high-quality development, innovation, breaking new ground and opening-up.

The country director for China of German development agency GIZ, Thorsten Giehler, and Shenyang Mayor and a leader of the China-Germany Industrial Park, Jiang Youwei, unveiled a learning platform between cities in China and Germany at the conference.

Top executives responsible for the management of the China-Germany Industrial Park signed 30 contracts covering new energy, auto parts, industrial internet and networked vehicle testing.

The total value of these contracts was 38 billion yuan ($5.8 billion), and will inject new impetus into the high-quality development of the park, local officials said.

Vice-Mayor of Shenyang, Li Songlin, and leaders with the China Academy of Industrial Internet, provincial departments of industry and information, and the provincial communications administration bureau, announced the opening of the Liaoning branch of the China Academy of Industrial Internet, and a big data subcenter affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Ten industrial internet experts have been hired as branch consultants. On Dec 17, an intellectual property arbitration institute was unveiled.

That marks the further internationalization, diversification and specialization of the intellectual property protection system of the China-Germany Industrial Park, according to local officials.

To train high-end talents in equipment manufacturing, the Shenyang Sino-German Institute of Applied Technology and a training center were also established on Dec 17.

At the 2020 China-Germany (Shenyang) Dual Education System Innovation Development Forum held on the conference's first day, CEOs and experts from Germany and Spain shared their insights on education. A company specializing in smart transport and smart driving was launched at the forum. It will cooperate with the park and companies in Jiangsu province that have extensive experience in design, technology research, application and industrial development.

The second day of the conference focused on trends that will impact the China-Germany Industrial Park. The Shenyang-Zhongguancun Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Center hosted a series of roadshows flexing the innovative muscles of Shenyang and online matchmaking events for machinery enterprises in Germany and Shenyang.

The Shenyang branch of FFT Production Systems located at the China-Germany Industrial Park opened on Dec 18, which local officials said will support the growth in intelligent manufacturing, aerospace, rail transit and new energy batteries.
