Shenyang's automotive industry has witnessed a historic milestone:the Geely Shenyang Smart Factory was put into operation recently.

Geely Shenyang project didn't start from scratch; instead, it revitalized the idle complete vehicle plant of the SGM-NORSOM. Through intelligent renovation, the outdated production capacity has achieved a remarkable rebirth.

Li Huaqiang, the person in charge of the company, introduced that after the renovation, the factory boasts an annual production capacity of 200,000 complete vehicles. "We have not only introduced complete vehicle assembly operations, but also pushed forward the local supporting supply of core components such as vehicle bodies, chassis, electronic control systems and methanol powertrains. A number of high-quality component projects including Shenyang Ditong are accelerating their layout, and the tiered structure of local new energy component enterprises is rapidly expanding."

Shenyang's automotive industry embarks on the "Third Track".

As the first large-scale manufacturing base for methanol plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in Northeast China, the Geely Shenyang Base has opened up the third core track for low-carbon new energy solutions based on methanol. It has built a complete vehicle industrial pattern featuring coordinated development of battery electric vehicles, methanol hybrid vehicles and fuel-powered vehicles.

Once the project reaches full production capacity, it will generate an additional automotive industry output value worth over ten billions yuan, and drive synchronous growth of related industries such as auto components, logistics, vehicle testing and automotive trade. This will consolidate the stable performance of Shenyang's overall automotive industry economy.
