From October 17 to 19, the 2024 World Intelligent Connected Vehicle Conference (WICV) was held in Beijing. The BMW Group announced at the conference that it will start mass production of vehicles equipped with vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology in 2025.

It is reported that the V2X technology to be applied in its mass-produced vehicles allows real-time data exchange and communication between vehicles, roadside infrastructure, and the cloud network. It enhances the coordination among various systems within smart city networks, laying a solid foundation for achieving the goal of intelligent transportation in the future.

In July this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, together with four other departments, announced the first batch of 20 pilot cities for V2X applications, marking the transition of V2X technology from local testing to large-scale implementation.Shenyang, which is seen as the second hometown of BMW, is one of the pilot cities. The city released plans for commercial applications in August this year, including opening the first road for L4 autonomous driving tests in NE China.

At present, BMW is strengthening cooperation with Shenyang in terms of vehicle tests, information sharing and the drafting of policies, regulations and standards to jointly promote the urban V2X construction in Shenyang.

Looking forward to it!
