Dusseldorf, where Nordrhein-Westfalen state government locates, covers an area of 217 square kilometers and has a population of about 570,000. It's the 9th largest city of Germany and one of the most important commercial cities of western Germany. Dorf means 'village' in German. That's why people jokingly call it 'the biggest village of Europe'.Shenyang established the sister city relationship with Dusseldorf on September 22, 1984. Dusseldorf is the third sister city of Shenyang.
