You may not have heard of Belfast,

but you must have heard of

"Titanic" and "Game of Thrones".

Belfast is where

the Titanic was built

and one of the filming locations

of "Game of Thrones".

It is a city with beautiful scenery.

In May 2016, Shenyang and Belfast formally established the sister city relationship.

Over the past five years, Belfast and Shenyang have achieved a series of important results in cooperation in high-end manufacturing, smart cities, life and health, talent training and other fields.

Especially since the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, the two cities have exchanged solidarity and assisted each other in anti-epidemic supplies, which deeply reflects the deep friendship of mutual support.

Our Moment

On May 18th, 2016, Belfast built Sister City relationship with Shenyang with the joint efforts of Chinese Embassy in the UK, Chinese Consulate-General in Belfast, NI Bureau China, Shenyang Municipal People's Government and Governmentof Belfast.

Our Sister City

Belfast is the largest seaport in Northern Ireland in the United Kingdom. Since 1920, it has been the capital of Northern Ireland. It is the political and cultural center and the largest industrial city in Northern Ireland.

Belfast is a city that is constantly innovating and reforming, and full of opportunities. In the field of attracting foreign direct investment, it ranks first in Europe.

Belfast is also a popular tourist destination.There are many well-known attractions such as the Titanic Museum, the Giant's Causeway, a world cultural and natural heritage site.

Our friendship

In March 2014, China Medical University and Queen's University Belfast established the Joint College.

In June 2017, Shenyang University and Ulster University signed a memorandum of inter-school cooperation.

In December 2017, the Shenyang City delegation attended the Third China-UK Regional Leaders' Summit held in Belfast.

In September 2018, the Mayor of Belfast attended series of activities of The 18th WWCAM Mayors Conference and held the Belfast City Tourism Promotion Event.

In February 2020, when the COVID-19 epidemic hit, the Belfast Northern Ireland Chinese Chamber of Commerce donated protective suits and goggles to Shenyang.

In April 2020, anti-epidemic supplies donated by Shenyang arrived in Belfast.
