The Shenyang Team for the Northeast China Football City League,known as "Dongbeichao",welcomes a "crossover" player.Wang Xindi,a Winter Olympic champion,has officially joined the team.

On March 5, Wang Xindi, a Liaoning athlete who had just won the men's freestyle skiing aerials gold at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, accepted an invitation in Shanghai and joined the Shenyang Team for "Dongbeichao".

Wang Xindi and Xu Mengtao both won gold medals at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. The "Tao-Xin couple" has become a heartwarming story in Chinese sports circle. After the two returned with honors, Wang Xindi publicly stated in Shenyang: "I also play football in my spare time. I wonder if any team needs me to play as a winger or wing-back at the 'Dongbeichao'. I hope some teams will contact me. I will regain my strength and strive to get into a good form."

After the newly-crowned Winter Olympic champion volunteered to join the "Dongbeichao", he received a positive response from the Shenyang Municipal Sports Bureau. The Dalian Team also offered him an olive branch. In the end, Wang Xindi chose to play for the Shenyang Team.

The first "Dongbeichao" will kick off on May 23.The Shenyang Team will start training in the middle of this month,and Wang Xindi's crossover journey is about to set sail.
