A children's experience hall in the Liaoning Provincial Museum opened to the public on May 31 in Shenyang according to local reports.

Covering an area of nearly 1,000 square meters, the hall has eight sections that provide a variety of interesting experience spaces for kids aged 3-12.

According to Zhang Ying, lead designer of the facility, the hall is children-oriented with one great example being a stone age hall. There, through scene reconstructions and interactions, children can get to learn about the natural environment, animals and plants and lifestyles of people at that time.

The experience hall will help stimulate children's interest and thirst for knowledge and also cultivate their abilities to observe, imagine and create, Zhang said.

In addition to experience halls, a reading area has also been set up, providing a large number of children's books on history and nature, where children can read and parents can also have a rest.

Zhang said the experience hall is expected to play a positive role in improving the museum's social education level for children and even promote cultural development in Northeast China.

The hall is open to the public every weekend on 9:30-11:30 and 13:30-15:30 and visitors can enter only after making an online appointment. The hall will only receive 15 children at a time, and each can be only accompanied by one parent.
