Shenyang Issues the Guidelines on Early Childhood Initial Labor Education

For the purpose of incorporating labor education into the whole process of talent training, Shenyang Municipal Bureau of Education has issued the Guidelines on Further Strengthening Early Childhood Initial Labor Education (hereinafter referred to as the "Guidelines"), a guiding document specially developed for labor education in kindergartens, focusing on improving the working mechanism of fostering children's moral, intellectual, physical, social, and aesthetic development through school-family-society cooperation in educating children, and promoting the well-rounded development and healthy growth of children.

When they eat, the children in Kindergarten Level 1 can arrange their own chairs, and pick up and place utensils independently. The children in Kindergarten Level 2 can learn to be on duty, and help others as much as they can. When they play independently in different areas, the children in Kindergarten Level 3 can try frying eggs, squeezing juice, etc. in the kitchen experience area, and make simple woodworking products in the woodworking experience area...The Guidelines focuses on developing children's labor cognition, emotion and skills, and deeply implanting the seeds of labor in the hearts of children.

The Guidelines requires that kindergartens shall infiltrate labor education into all aspects of daily life, and integrates it into five fields, covering the children of all ages in kindergartens. The Guidelines stresses that kindergarten labor education shall always take games as the basic activities. Among others, in terms of educational content, the Guidelines makes the proposal for the implementation of initial labor education, and develops a more detailed, inspiring and referential "labor list" for the children of each age group, for the purpose of guiding the kindergartens to carry out scientific organization and implementation in light of the actual situation.
