Source: Shenyang Daily 2022-01-16

As the Spring Festival approaches, the citizens of Shenyang are busy doing Spring Festival shopping. On January 15, the reporter learned from relevant departments that the prices of agricultural and sideline products in Shenyang are rather stable, and will be maintained before the holiday season.

On the same day, the reporter saw in the Dili Fresh Food Changbai Store that there are a variety of fresh vegetables in the agricultural and sideline products area, and the prices are basically between CNY 4 and CNY 14 per kilogram. In Xinlongjia Supermarket, fresh rape, spinach, celery, garlic sprout, etc. are all placed in prominent positions. The staff said that there are a great variety and an abundant supply of vegetables with rather stable prices, and the prices of many varieties are falling slightly.

According to data from Shenyang Municipal Vegetable Basket Information Release Platform, from January 10 to 14, the average price of 20 kinds of vegetables in the city was CNY 3.88/500 grams, a slight decline of 1.52% over the previous week. Specifically, the prices of cauliflower, rape, Chinese chives, celery and spinach dropped by 9.15%, 7.32%, 5.19%, 2.42% and 0.94% respectively.

Vegetable prices have been falling since December last year.Experts from the National Bureau of Statistics Liaoning Investigation Team has observed that there has been less rain and snow since December last year, which is conducive to the production, picking and transportation and storage of fresh vegetables, and an ample supply of vegetables makes the overall prices drop from the previous week.

As for the trend of meat, egg and vegetable prices in the later period, Shenyang Municipal Vegetable Basket Information Release Platform shows that people in Northern China have begun to buy pork, pig farmers has begun to sell their pigs and a large amount of frozen pork has been put on the market. It is expected that there may be a small drop in the price of pigs next week. In addition, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, people are not allowed to dine together in many places across the country, including colleges and universities and organizations. Consequently, the Spring Festival has little effect on increasing vegetable prices.
