From November 7 to 9, Shenyang had a rare and extremely heavy snowstorm, which brought some impact on the transportation of agricultural and sideline products. For a time, vegetables were more expensive than meat. According to the monitoring data released by Shenyang Municipal Development and Reform Commission: last week, the city's pork, eggs and vegetable prices rose to varying degrees, with vegetable prices rising significantly, while beef and mutton, grain and oil prices were relatively stable. With the improvement of the weather, Shenyang Municipal Development and Reform Commission expects vegetable prices will continue to show a slight downward trend.
Due to the continuous snowfall, hog slaughtering and circulation were hindered. Last week, the price of hogs in Shenyang rose to CNY 8/catty. Near the weekend, it fell back slightly, and the average price was CNY 7.86/catty, up 3.97 percent from the previous month. At the same time, the snowfall brought difficulties to the transportation of eggs, and due to the rise in vegetable prices, boosting consumer demand in the egg market, egg prices continued to rise, the prices exceeded CNY 6/catty in some market, the weekly average price was CNY 5.93/catty, up 5.14 percent from the previous month.
Affected by the difficulty of picking vegetables after snow, the closure of highways and poor transportation, the city's vegetable supply is temporarily tight. In the first three days of last week, the price of fine vegetables, leafy vegetables and other vegetables rose significantly. Starting from Thursday, the prices fell slightly as the impact of snow gradually receded, the road transport was smooth and the vegetable supplies resumed. In general, the average weekly price of 20 key monitored vegetables was CNY 5.15/catty, up 29.39 percent from the previous month. Among them, the price of pointed-green pepper rose by more than 60 percent, the prices of cucumber, green eggplant, green pepper, spinach, rape, cauliflower rose by more than 50 percent, Chinese cabbage prices rose by more than 40 percent, the prices of onion, white radish, potato and other storage resistant vegetables rose slightly. In addition, the city's beef and mutton prices rose slightly, grain and oil prices were stable.
After the blizzard, Shenyang Municipal Development and Reform Commission forecasted the future price of pork, eggs, vegetables. As the impact of snowfall subsides, the road transportation is smooth, the pace of hog slaughter is accelerated, the market supply is restored, and pork prices will enter a shock retracement phase in the short term, and the price may fall slightly. As the weather improves and vegetable prices fall steadily, the impetus for egg prices to continue to rise is insufficient, and egg prices may enter a shock adjustment in the later stage.
According to the meteorological department forecast, the city's weather conditions are good this week, vegetable prices are expected to continue to show a slight downward trend.
