On October 25 the General Office of the State Council issued the letter on approving Liaoning Province to host the 15th National Winter Games in 2028.This is the first time that Liaoning Province has won the right to host the National Winter Games.

According to the events setting of the 15th National Winter Games, all competitions require 20 venues and arenas. Currently, Liaoning Province has 10 indoor skating rinks and 32 skiing resorts.Among them, ice rinks such as the Shenyang Sport University Skating Gym and the Shenyang Heping District National Fitness Center Skating Gym can be upgraded and transformed to undertake short track speed skating, figure skating, ice hockey and other ice sports at the National Winter Games; Some skiing resorts such as Fushun Julong Skiing Resort, Shenyang Northeast Asia Skiing Resort and Shenyang Baiqingzhai Skiing Resort can be upgraded and renovated to undertake freestyle skiing, snowboarding and other snow sports.
